THE SOUND OF THE VOICE OF GOD

Deus fala comigo a falar-me em mim.

E Deus lhe disse: Sai para fora, e põe-te neste monte perante o SENHOR. E eis que passava o SENHOR, como também um grande e forte vento que fendia os montes e quebrava as penhas diante do SENHOR; porém o SENHOR não estava no vento; e depois do vento um terremoto; também o SENHOR não estava no terremoto;

Every day we listen to many voices and interact with them. We speak and listen through a decoded language that is absorbed for a specific purpose. But how can we discern the voice of God in the midst of so many voices?

Can a person listen to God’s voice apart from His Word (the Bible)?

And said, The Lord has let us see his glory and his power, and his voice has come to us out of the fire: today we have seen that a man may go on living even after hearing the voice of God.

Deuteronomy 5:24

God can speak to me or answer me in my spirit.

God speaks to me when He speaks in me.

He can put something in our minds in a way we are sure and confident about the answer.

Sometimes we may even have some impressions about something in our minds or hearts, and although we may try to escape from them, they come back to us.

Connection and influence

It’s important to mention that these impressions need to be judged! First f all by God’s Word! Remember: the principle is more important than the impressions. If my impressions go against any principle in God’s Word, it must be immediately discarded.

I usually say that in order to have impression coming from the Spirit, it’s necessary to be in constant connection with Heaven!

And you might ask “how?” Through devotionals, worship, praise, fasting, etc.

If my life is messed up by any problem from this world, I tend to suffer a lot more with its interferences than heaven’s, which disturbs a spiritual understanding.

Who may be speaking?

I may be deluded by imagination, by any temptation, accusation or any of satan’s tricks. Sometimes I get absolutely surprised when I listen to some people saying that, because of a first inner sensation, by speaking about spiritual things, they claim to be hearing the voice of God at once.

Despite these 15 years of ministry, I still have great care and fear before I declare I’ve heard God’s voice and discern His will about something.

Therefore, whatever comes to you at once, reject! Wait until it returns more emphatically in your spirit. We must be attentive to the impressions we have in order to discern if what I hear comes from my soul (mind) or from the depth of my spirit.

He speaks calmly!

We tend to think that His Spirit speaks in a loud way, and it’s not like that!

He can, and I believe mosto f the times He does speak as a gentle whisper. See Elijah’s example:

Then he said, Go out and take your place on the mountain before the Lord. Then the Lord went by, and mountains were parted by the force of a great wind, and rocks were broken before the Lord; but the Lord was not in the wind. And after the wind there was an earth-shock, but the Lord was not in the earth-shock. And after the earth-shock a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire. And after the fire, the sound of a soft breath. And Elijah, hearing it, went out, covering his face with his robe, and took his place in the opening of the hole. And there a voice came to him saying, What are you doing here, Elijah? 1 Kings 19:11-13

Remember: God rarely encourages us to a sudden action before giving us some time to think carefully about the matter.

Let’s keep talking about this topic in the next devotionals!

Our portin today is: believe that God speaks!

It’s necessary to have connection and influence from the Kingdom!

His voice is calm and takes me to meditate about it!

A great Kiss in your heart.
