Ele aprecia me olhar e te olhar!

Oh my Gosh!

Come and see the works of God: he is to be feared in all he does to the children of men. Psalms 66:5

That’s an informal expression of surprise, astonishment. In which context of your life does this expression fit?

Perhaps in situations in which you receive some news of great relevance that may bring you benefits, or maybe because of something you’d never lived before!

If you had lived in ancient times, and had been along with Moses before the great miracle of the Red Sea opening, you might’ve said: “Oh my Gosh! I can’t believe what I’ve just seen!”

“And when Moses’ hand was stretched out over the sea, the Lord with a strong east wind made the sea go back all night, and the waters were parted in two and the sea became dry land.”

Exodus 14:21

It’s hard to avoid uttering these or other expressions, once the surprise breaks all discretion or the possibility of keeping our great admiration to ourselves.

We can also utter these expressions while facing situations of chaos, loss, calamities! And we wouldn’t like to utter them in such cases whatsoever! (God, deliver us from that!)

But it’s amazing to say them for something beneficial, in a situation of a great blessing, after a moment of surprise in which we relax in awe for what has happened.

Praise be to the Lord, who is our support day by day, even the God of our salvation. (Selah.) Psalms 68:19

That way, we can feel deep admiration for each daily divine beneficial intervention that makes us look at ourselves and see no merits at all that can make us deserve any reward from Him. But how merciful He is! And day after day we get even more amazed by His great love for us!

Who can count the Lord’s great deeds? Who will declare His praise?

My prayer today: May you utter this popular expression with deep awe for God’s astonishing deeds for the days to come! And for the manifestation of His benefits and blessings in your life!

Then, as we soon run into each other, I can say: “Oh my Gosh! What a wonderful testimony God has given you today! Oh, glory!

The works of the Lord are great, searched out by all those who have delight in them. Psalms 111:2
